(SEATTLE, WA, 11/21/25) – The Washington state chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today called on “all people of conscience” to repudiate a anti-Muslim statement by self-proclaimed “proud Islamophobe” Spokane Valley Councilwoman Jessica Yaeger that “Islam has no home here.”
Yaeger reportedly posted those bigoted comments on her personal Facebook page.
In a statement, CAIR-WA Executive Director Imraan Siddiqi said:
“As we have seen in the past few days, there is a concerted nationwide effort to fan the flames of anti-Muslim bigotry. This level of hateful rhetoric is unacceptable and we call on all people of conscience in Washington state to stand firmly against these bigoted comments.”
He noted that earlier this year, CAIR released its 2025 Civil Rights Report, Unconstitutional Crackdowns, which reveals that Islamophobia remains at record-high levels nationwide.
CAIR’s mission is to protect civil rights, enhance understanding of Islam, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.
La misión de CAIR es proteger las libertades civiles, mejorar la comprensión del Islam, promover la justicia, y empoderar a los musulmanes en los Estados Unidos.
